Duda Farm Fresh Foods, Inc. has issued a precautionary advisory for over 1,500 cases of Marketside brand celery sticks after a random sample from a Georgia store tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. While the affected product is no longer available in stores, consumers are advised to check their freezers and discard the celery if in possession.

The advisory applies specifically to 4-pack, 1.6-ounce Marketside Celery Sticks bearing a UPC code of 6 81131 16151 0, with a Best if Used by Date of March 23, 2025, and Lot Code P047650. These items were distributed to Walmart stores in over 30 states, including Alabama, California, Georgia, New York, and Virginia. The company clarified that no other products are affected by the advisory.
Listeria monocytogenes can pose significant health risks, especially to pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Although no illnesses have been reported, consumers are advised not to consume the recalled celery and to dispose of it, especially if the product was stored for future use in a freezer.

The contamination was identified during routine sampling conducted by the Georgia Department of Agriculture, where one of multiple celery samples tested positive. Duda Farm Fresh Foods emphasized that the advisory is being issued out of an abundance of caution. The product in question was distributed nationwide but is now past its expiration date and is not available for purchase.
