A small vegetation fire broke out on Scarlet Oak Drive in Hagerstown, Maryland, on March 28, 2025, causing minimal damage. Authorities determined that the fire was intentionally set by juveniles under the age of nine. No injuries were reported, and the incident resulted in an estimated loss of $50 in property damage. The juveniles have been identified and are expected to be referred to a youth fire setter intervention program.

The fire occurred near the Valley Meadow Townhomes and was discovered by a neighbor at approximately 5:20 p.m. The Halfway Volunteer Fire Company responded promptly with four firefighters, bringing the fire under control within five minutes.
Fire investigators determined that the fire originated in an outdoor area with vegetation. Although no arrests were made, officials have classified the cause of the fire as incendiary. The juveniles involved were identified, and steps are being taken to address the incident through appropriate educational programs.
