The Washington County Office of Emergency Management has announced that the countywide burn ban will be lifted on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. The burn ban, which was put in place due to dry conditions and an increased risk of wildfires, is being lifted following recent improvements in weather, including higher humidity and rainfall.

“We appreciate the cooperation of our residents and businesses during this burn ban,” said Alan Matheny, Director of the Washington County Office of Emergency Management. “Your efforts have helped protect lives and property, and we encourage continued fire safety awareness.”
While the burn ban will no longer be in effect, residents are urged to remain cautious when conducting any outdoor burning. Recommended safety practices include never leaving fires unattended, keeping a water source nearby, avoiding burning during windy conditions, and ensuring that fires are completely extinguished before leaving the area.
The Office of Emergency Management expressed gratitude for the community’s cooperation during the burn ban, noting that adherence to safety measures helped protect lives and property. Continued fire safety awareness is encouraged as conditions remain monitored.
