Key agenda items include the approval of minutes from the previous session, commissioners’ and staff reports, and citizen participation. A presentation from the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts will highlight the school’s efforts to promote its spring musical through community performances.
The commissioners will also review a proposed sole-source procurement contract for body-worn cameras, evidence storage, and tasers for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The contract, valued at over $1.5 million over five years, aims to enhance officer accountability and public safety. Another sole-source contract under consideration involves upgrading the county’s video management system to improve jail security through enhanced monitoring and AI-powered facial recognition technology.

Budget discussions will cover the proposed FY2026 general fund budget, including community organization funding recommendations. The county received 59 applications requesting nearly $3 million in funding, while only $1.2 million is available for distribution. The board will consider how to allocate these funds across service priorities, including domestic violence programs, family services, and arts and culture initiatives.
Personnel requests will also be addressed, with the county reviewing over $9 million in staffing proposals. The discussion will focus on salary scale adjustments, new hires in public safety and emergency services, and proposed increases in employee healthcare contributions. Additionally, a draft of the county’s capital budget for 2026-2035 will be presented.
The meeting will conclude with a closed session to discuss confidential personnel matters and potential financial incentives for businesses considering expansion in Washington County. Commissioners will reconvene in the afternoon for an open session before adjourning.
