A fire in LaVale, Maryland, claimed the lives of two individuals early Friday morning, prompting an investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Maryland State Police, and C3I. Firefighters responded to a 911 call reporting smoke and flames at a residence on Asbury Avenue, where they discovered the victims inside the home. Authorities are working to determine the cause of the fire, which began in the living room, as well as whether smoke alarms were present in the residence.

The LaVale Fire Department, along with multiple surrounding departments, battled the fire, which escalated to two alarms. Approximately 60 firefighters were on the scene and managed to bring the fire under control in 25 minutes. After containing the blaze, a search of the structure led to the discovery of the two victims. Their remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification and determination of the exact cause of death.
The fatal incident in Allegany County was part of a tragic 12-hour period across Maryland, during which six people lost their lives in separate fires. Two individuals died in a fire in Anne Arundel County late Thursday night, while another two fatalities occurred in Harford County on Friday morning. Officials have urged residents to remain vigilant about fire safety, particularly during the winter months when risks increase.
