HAGERSTOWN, MD News (10/15/2024) – A structure fire occurred at a single-story residence located at 10906 Rosewood Drive on the evening of October 14, 2024. The fire was discovered by a neighbor at approximately 5:45 p.m. and reported to local authorities.

The Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway was the primary responding department, sending 22 firefighters to the scene. The blaze, which originated outside behind the garage of the property, was brought under control within five minutes of arrival.

According to initial reports, the fire began when a controlled burn was left unattended and spread to the exterior of the garage. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities reported. The occupant of the residence, Jay Jansson, was not harmed in the incident.

Property damage is estimated at $10,000. The fire has been classified as accidental.
