The Office of the State Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation into a fire that occurred on March 22, 2026, at approximately 2:54 p.m. at 11923 Wesley Drive in Hagerstown, Washington County. The incident involved a detached two-car garage, which sustained substantial damage, with preliminary estimates placing the structural loss at $80,000 and content damage at $120,000.
The fire was reported by tenants and required a response from the Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Department. A total of 43 firefighters responded to the one-alarm incident, bringing the blaze under control within 15 minutes. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported as a result of the fire, and no individuals were displaced from their residences. The structure was not equipped with a smoke alarm or fire alarm system. The area of origin and the preliminary cause of the fire are currently under investigation. The Office of the State Fire Marshal, an agency of the Department of State Police, is dedicated to public safety through education, inspection, investigation, and fire protection engineering.
