“The Business Awards has evolved into the premier event celebrating Washington County. Having been involved in this event for 23 years, it’s exciting to see the changes we’ve made in the past and present,” said Donna Mitchell, director of operations at the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. “We’ve added new categories, revamped the judging process, and improved how the community can nominate a business or person. I encourage everyone to be a part of this celebration!”

In an effort to be more inclusive and representative of the community’s growth, several new award categories have been introduced. This year, the awards will feature two distinct categories for nonprofits: Small Nonprofit of the Year and Large Nonprofit of the Year. Businesses will also be recognized in three different categories: Small Business of the Year, Medium Business of the Year, and Large Business of the Year. Additionally, traditional awards such as the At Your Service Award, Young Professional of the Year, and Business Person of the Year will continue to be presented, bringing the total number of awards to eight.

“For over 20 years the Washington County Chamber of Commerce has been recognizing our community’s outstanding businesses, nonprofits, and individuals. After hearing from members of our business and nonprofit community, the Chamber formed a workgroup and made some changes to the nomination and awards process,” said Paul Frey, president and CEO of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. “We believe these changes will allow more opportunities for award nominees to participate, as well as a more straightforward nomination and application process. In addition, we have created an enhanced judging process that will allow for greater participation from a wider pool of judges.”
