HAGERSTOWN, MD News (7/21/2023) – The Washington County Government Solid Waste Department has released a notice to the public that until further notice, credit card payments will not be accepted at the Forty West Landfill, located at 12630 Earth Care Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, due to ongoing issues with the credit card system.
The county did not disclose the nature of the ongoing issues, but issued a statement that is actively working on resolving these issues as swiftly as possible.
The last time Washington County had credit card payment processing issues was due to the Thanksgiving Day cybersecurity incident, which has now been referred to as a cyber breach by Senator Van Hollen.
Washington County Government did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding this story, and this story will be updated with any responses provided.
