Hagerstown City Police have arrested and charged a local man in connection with a shooting that occurred early Monday morning, leaving a 26-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. The incident, which took place in the 500 block of George Street, is being investigated with support from the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN).

According to information released by the Hagerstown City Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 2:24 am on July 27th following reports of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered an adult male suffering from several gunshot injuries. Emergency services, including Community Rescue Service, were immediately called to the scene, and the victim was transported to Meritus Medical Center. He has since undergone surgery and is reported to be in stable condition.

The investigation into the shooting suggests that an altercation occurred in the 500 block of George Street shortly before the victim was shot. Following the initial confrontation, the suspect reportedly departed the area only to return a short time later and fire upon the victim. Authorities were able to apprehend a suspect less than three hours after the incident. The apprehended individual has been identified as Kyron Sapp Jr., a 33-year-old resident of Hagerstown, Maryland.

Following his arrest, Kyron Sapp Jr. was taken to the Washington County Detention Center. He has been formally charged with multiple offenses related to the shooting. These charges include attempted first and second-degree murder, along with first and second-degree assault. Sapp Jr. also faces charges of reckless endangerment and several handgun-related crimes.
