HAGERSTOWN, MD – A homicide investigation stemming from a shooting incident on July 5, 2026, has led to the arrest of one individual, with another still sought by authorities. According to information released by the Hagerstown Police Department, Cierra Candice Bryant, 39, of Hagerstown, was apprehended without incident on July 9, 2026. Her arrest was made by members of the Hagerstown Police Department, with assistance from the Washington County Special Response Team, and she was served with an arrest warrant for First-Degree Murder and related charges. Bryant is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center without bond.

The victim in the case has been identified as Dalonte Dametrius Young, 30, also of Hagerstown. Mr. Young was discovered by officers responding to a report of a gunshot victim in the first block of East Antietam Street in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 5, 2026. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound. Tragically, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Hagerstown Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit has been leading the investigation into this incident, which is being treated as a homicide.

During their investigation, the Criminal Investigations Unit identified multiple suspects believed to be involved in Mr. Young’s death. In addition to Cierra Candice Bryant, authorities are actively seeking Michael Timothy Wilder, 38, also of Hagerstown. Mr. Wilder is wanted on charges of First-Degree Murder and other offenses connected to the homicide. The Hagerstown Police Department urges anyone with information regarding Mr. Wilder’s current whereabouts to come forward and assist in the investigation.

Alternatively, anonymous tips can be submitted through the police department’s online portal at crimetip@hagerstownpd.org. The investigation is ongoing, and officials have stated that no further information will be released at this time. The department has emphasized that this incident is considered isolated and poses no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation received partial funding from the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN). MCIN is an initiative within the Governor’s Office Crime Prevention and Policy Program, dedicated to identifying, disrupting, and dismantling criminal organizations, particularly those involved in drug distribution, violent crimes involving firearms, human trafficking, and other violent criminal enterprises. Through a collaborative approach involving enforcement, prevention, intervention, and information sharing, MCIN aims to reduce violent crime by fostering partnerships and enhancing the capabilities for investigating and prosecuting violent criminals and their networks.
