Franklin County, Pennsylvania residents seeking respite from an anticipated heatwave can find relief at several senior activity centers, as announced by the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging. With the heat index projected to exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit, two senior centers will be extending their operating hours to provide a safe and cool environment for older adults.
The Chambersburg Senior Center, located at 2593 Philadelphia Ave., and the Greencastle Senior Center, situated at 10615 Antrim Church Road, will both be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. These extended hours are specifically designed to offer additional opportunities for seniors to escape the extreme temperatures. All other senior centers in Franklin County will maintain their regular weekday operating hours, typically from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., allowing older residents to visit during these times as well.
