The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of approximately 255,000 Vornado SRTH Small Room Tower Heaters due to a significant fire hazard. According to the commission, the heater’s fan blade can detach from its motor shaft, which can cause the fan to slow down or stop. This malfunction can lead to overheating and melting of the heater’s enclosure and internal components. If the safety thermal cut-off or fuse does not activate promptly, the melted internal parts could ignite and breach the unit, posing a serious risk of fire.

The affected heaters were sold nationwide in retail stores such as Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, and ACE Hardware, as well as online through Vornado.com and Amazon.com. The recall spans units sold between August 2013 and May 2026, with prices ranging from $40 to $50. These Vornado SRTH heaters are available in black and white, stand about 12.5 inches tall with a 6-inch diameter, and feature two heat settings along with a fan-only option. The Vornado logo, a stylized “V” within a circle, is visible on the front of the unit, and the model designation “TYPE SRTH” can be found on a silver rating label located on the bottom of the product.
