A nationwide recall has been issued for DIY Sauna Heater Kits due to a significant fire hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The kits, sold by DIY Cold Plunge, contain electrical conductors that can overheat, potentially leading to fires and posing a risk of serious injury or death. Approximately 675 of these kits were sold in the United States, with an additional 14 units sold in Canada.

The recalled product is the DIY Sauna Heater Kit, designed for consumers to assemble a heating fixture for use in a do-it-yourself sauna enclosure. The kit includes a stainless steel cage, screws, four ceramic bulb sockets, wire connectors, ground pigtails, and a three-prong power cord. It is intended to be attached to a customer-built wooden frame, and consumers are required to purchase the four heat-lamp bulbs separately. These kits were available for purchase online at http://www.diycoldplunge.com from March 2025 through February 2026, with prices ranging from $400 to $500.
Consumers are strongly advised to immediately cease using the recalled Sauna Heater Kit. To receive a full refund, individuals must register on the dedicated recall page at http://www.diycoldplunge.com/pages/recall. As part of the refund process, consumers will be required to provide written and photographic evidence that the product has been destroyed or disposed of. Alternatively, consumers can request a prepaid shipping label to return the product.
The firm, Plunge Buddy LLC, doing business as DIY Cold Plunge, based in North Mankato, Minnesota, has received 12 reports of units overheating. Fortunately, no fires or injuries have been reported in connection with these incidents. The product was manufactured in the United States.
