Enerco Group Inc. has issued a recall for approximately 21,250 DEWALT 70,000 BTU outdoor portable cordless forced air propane heaters due to potential fire and burn hazards. The product, sold exclusively through Lowe’s stores and its website between May 2024 and January 2025, may overheat during use because of confusing operating instructions that can lead users to start the device incorrectly.

The recall covers model number DXH70CFAVX, which features a yellow and black exterior with the DEWALT brand marked on the lower yellow section. An issue with the heater’s startup instructions can cause users to press the start button too quickly, preventing the fan from activating and increasing the risk of overheating. Enerco has reported 11 incidents of the units overheating but no injuries have been reported.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled heaters and contact Enerco to receive updated usage instructions along with a new warning sticker. These are available online through the company’s recall website, and Enerco, along with Lowe’s, is directly reaching out to known purchasers to ensure they are informed of the safety measures.

The product recall is being conducted in coordination with Canadian safety authorities. Consumers can visit Enerco’s website or call the company’s support line for assistance in obtaining the revised documentation needed for safe operation of the heater.
