Maryland voters have an extended window to participate in the upcoming primary election through early voting, which continues until Thursday, June 18. This period offers a secure and convenient alternative to casting a ballot on Primary Election Day. Early voting centers are operational daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with individuals in line by the 8 p.m. closing time guaranteed the opportunity to cast their vote.

In Washington County, early voting has been steady but light, with typically no or very short wait time to cast your ballot.

Voter registration remains an option for those who have not yet registered. Marylanders can complete their registration by visiting an early voting center or by voting in person on Primary Election Day, which is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23. To register, voters must present a document verifying their current address. The State Administrator of Elections has emphasized the convenience and security of early voting, noting typical strong turnout for this option and encouraging all eligible citizens to make a plan for casting their ballot.

“Early voting is a secure and convenient option for casting your vote in the primary election,” said Jared DeMarinis, State Administrator of Elections. “We typically experience strong turnout for early voting, so I urge every Marylander considering this option to plan ahead.”

In addition to early voting and the upcoming Primary Election Day, registered voters also have the option of mail-in voting. For the 2026 Gubernatorial Election, Washington County residents who are third-party or unaffiliated voters can participate in the Board of Education primary, which is non-partisan. A comprehensive list of all early voting centers is accessible on the official state elections website.

In Washington County, early voting is available at four locations: the Washington County Free Library at 100 S Potomac Street in Hagerstown, the Boonsboro American Legion Clopper Michael Post 10 at 710 N. Main Street in Boonsboro, the Clear Spring American Legion Post 222 Activity Building at 12335 Big Spring Road in Clear Spring, and the Washington County Election Center at 17718 Virginia Avenue in Hagerstown. All these sites are open during the early voting period to facilitate ballot casting.
