Accidental Vehicle Fire Guts Van in Hagerstown McDonald’s Parking Lot

A vehicle fire that occurred on the morning of May 22, 2026, in Hagerstown has been preliminarily determined to be accidental. The incident involved a 2013 Ford Transit Connect van and took place in the parking lot of a McDonald’s located at 17601 Garland Groh Boulevard. The Hagerstown City Fire Department responded to the scene, with six firefighters arriving and bringing the blaze under control in approximately 10 minutes.

The fire was first reported by the occupant of the vehicle shortly after 7:26 a.m. The investigation into the incident indicated that the area of origin was the dashboard of the van. While the vehicle was initially reported as parked and unoccupied, the occupant discovered the fire. The estimated monetary loss from the incident is $8,000, specifically to the structure of the van itself, with no loss reported for contents.
