The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged assault that took place at a Walmart on Guilford Drive, leading to the charging of a Frederick man. Deputies responded to the incident after an adult female reported being approached by a male suspect while shopping with her child. Through their investigation, law enforcement identified the suspect as Alcides Josuap Carbajal Barahona, 19, of Frederick, Maryland. Surveillance footage from the store was reviewed, which reportedly showed the suspect lingering in the vicinity of the victim and appearing to observe her prior to the alleged assault. Carbajal Barahona has been issued a criminal summons, facing charges of Second Degree Assault and Fourth Degree Sex Offense. The summons was reportedly served on April 27, 2026. Investigators with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office believe there is a possibility that Carbajal Barahona may have engaged in similar conduct with other individuals.
The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone who may have experienced a similar incident or possesses additional information relevant to the investigation to come forward. Those with information can contact the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office directly at 301-600-1046 or submit an anonymous tip through the FCSO tip line at 301-600-4131.
