The Boys & Girls Club of Washington County is inviting the community to participate in a special fundraising event, the “May the Futures Be With You” Telethon, aimed at bolstering its summer programming. The six-hour broadcast, scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., will be streamed live across the organization’s social media channels. Viewers will gain insight into the Club’s impactful work through a series of videos, youth performances, and conversations with Club members, staff, alumni, and community supporters.

The telethon intends to broaden the public’s understanding of the Boys & Girls Club’s extensive operations beyond recent building projects. By showcasing the organization’s year-round commitment to providing secure, nurturing, and enriching environments for young people, the event aims to garner support for its crucial summer initiatives. Funds generated will be specifically directed towards these summer programs, designed to keep local youth actively engaged, healthy, and academically prepared during the break from school.
The Boys & Girls Club of Washington County operates multiple sites, including four after-school programs and summer camps in Hagerstown and one in Cumberland. Additionally, the organization maintains two school-based locations within Washington County elementary schools. Since its establishment in 1941, the Boys & Girls Club has served thousands of young individuals and currently provides support to approximately 700 youth aged 6 to 18 annually. Its core mission is to empower all young people, particularly those facing challenges, to realize their full potential and develop into responsible and engaged citizens.
