The United Democrats of Washington County (UDWC) is organizing a special fundraising event on April 23, 2026, designed to support local Democratic candidates in the upcoming 2026 elections. The evening, titled “Tea Time for a Cause,” will take place from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Eliza’s House, located at 35 North Potomac Street in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Attendees will have the opportunity to experience a taste of history with a 1773 tea tasting accompanied by sweet treats. The event will feature a presentation by Dr. Thomas G. Clemens, who will discuss historical tea-related events, including the Boston Tea Party, the Annapolis Tea Party, and the Washington County Tea Burning. The primary objective of the gathering is to raise funds for Democratic candidates who will be on the ballot in 2026. The cost of admission is $25 per person, and the event will also include raffles and prizes. Reservations are required, and interested individuals are asked to call 240-329-8583 by April 16, 2026, to secure their tickets.
This event offers residents a unique way to engage with local political fundraising while learning about significant historical events connected to tea. The funds raised will directly contribute to the campaigns of local Democratic candidates, aiming to bolster their efforts in the 2026 election cycle. Participants will enjoy a thematic experience with historical storytelling and refreshments, all in support of local political endeavors.
