Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy made contact with the driver and four passengers. Additional deputies were called to the scene to provide assistance. During the course of the investigation, consent was given to search the vehicle. The search yielded a loaded Ruger LCP .380 caliber handgun, which was subsequently found to have been reported stolen from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Additionally, deputies discovered MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, concealed within a beverage container in the vehicle.

As a direct result of the findings during this traffic stop and subsequent investigation, two individuals have been charged. Jonah Christian Cahill, a 21-year-old passenger from Kalamazoo, Michigan, faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges related to firearm possession, including possession with a prior violent/felony conviction, possession of a stolen regulated firearm, and illegal possession of a handgun and ammunition. Cahill was taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond pending a bond review hearing.

The driver of the vehicle, 40-year-old Aaron Dashawn Yarbrough of Benton Harbor, Michigan, was charged with criminal citation for possession of MDMA, as well as traffic violations including driving with a suspended license, knowingly driving uninsured, and operating an unregistered vehicle. Yarbrough received criminal and traffic citations and was released at the scene. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office to address illegal firearm and drug activity within the community.
