During the course of the traffic stop, a rear-seat passenger was identified as 21-year-old Jamar Harvey of Frederick. A check of active warrants revealed that Harvey was sought by the Frederick Police Department for charges including First Degree Assault and several firearms-related offenses. Harvey was subsequently taken into custody based on these outstanding warrants. A search of a backpack in his possession uncovered a Glock 22 handgun, chambered in .40-caliber. Law enforcement later confirmed that this firearm had been reported stolen from Richmond, Virginia. Additionally, the search yielded a significant sum of U.S. currency, a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, Promethazine, and various items of drug paraphernalia.

Harvey was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. He now faces numerous felony and misdemeanor charges related to the recovered firearm and narcotics. These charges include possession of a stolen firearm, use of a firearm in a crime, carrying a loaded handgun on his person and in a vehicle, and multiple counts related to drug distribution, possession with intent to distribute, and possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is a comprehensive law enforcement agency dedicated to serving the over 290,000 residents of Frederick County. Its mission includes crime prevention, protection of life and property, maintaining peace and order, and enforcing laws, all while upholding constitutional guarantees and ensuring the safekeeping of prisoners.
