The Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative was alerted to the incident by the victim, who reported that the operator of a Buick Enclave brandished a handgun. Fortunately, the victim sustained no injuries during the encounter. Following an investigation, Ledbetter was identified as the suspect. Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at her residence on February 1, which led to the recovery of a firearm. Ledbetter was taken into custody on Saturday night and subsequently charged with first and second-degree assault, possessing a loaded handgun in a vehicle, and other firearm-related offenses. She later appeared before a district court commissioner and was released on bond. The Maryland State Police emphasizes its commitment to enhancing safety within the state, including proactive measures against gun violence on its roadways. The department is also continuing investigations into unrelated homicides and is seeking public assistance.
