Johnson Health Tech North America has expanded a previous recall to include an additional approximately 47,000 Matrix and Vision brand treadmills due to a fire hazard. According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the power cord on these recalled treadmills can become loose from the unit’s power socket, creating a risk of overheating and fire. This recall is an expansion of a prior recall involving commercial treadmills from the same brands.

The expanded recall encompasses several models of Matrix Retail treadmills, including the T30 (TM729), TF30 (TM693, TM693B), T50 (TM695, TM767), TF50 (TM694, TM694B, TM768), and T75 (TM703, TM703B, TM703C, TM703E). Also included are Vision brand treadmills: T9800 (TM87), TF20 (TM432, TM432C), T40 (TM433, TM433C), and T80 (TM445). These treadmills are characterized by a 60-inch long by 20-inch wide running platform and a 33-inch wide console. Crucially, the recalled units were sold with a straight power cord and do not feature a power cord bracket. The “Matrix” or “Vision” brand name is visible on both the treadmill and its belt. Owners can locate the model and frame serial number on the lower front crossbar near the power switch; this serial number contains a “TM” designation, followed by a three-digit model number, the manufacturing date in YY/MM format, and a five-digit serial number. The treadmills affected by this recall were manufactured between June 2007 and January 2024.

Johnson Health Tech North America has received 27 reports of overheating occurring at the connection point between the power cord and the treadmill’s socket. While no injuries have been reported in connection with this issue, the potential for fire necessitates this action. The treadmills were sold through various retailers, including JFW, G&G Fitness, Precision Fitness, Fitness Expo, Fitcorp USA, Better Body Fitness of Montana Inc, BGI Fitness, Treadmill Outlet, and Colorado Home Fitness, as well as online at matrixhomefitness.com, visionfitness.com, and other online retailers. These units were sold between April 2012 and May 2025, with prices ranging from $2,100 to $8,100. The importer for these products is Johnson Health Tech Trading, Inc., based in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, and the treadmills were manufactured in China.

Consumers who own the affected treadmills are advised to check their units for the presence of a power cord bracket. If no bracket is installed, users should ensure the power cord is fully inserted into the treadmill’s power socket before each use until a repair is made. Johnson Health Tech North America is providing consumers with a free replacement power cord that features an automatic locking-style plug. This replacement cord is designed for self-installation and does not require any tools. To obtain the replacement cord, consumers can contact Johnson Health Tech North America toll-free at 800-211-4590, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time. Alternatively, consumers can email retailpowercord@johnsonfit.com or visit the recall sections on the respective brand websites, https://matrixhomefitness.com/recalls or https://recalls.visionfitness.com/.
