According to the Maryland State Police, an Annapolis woman has been arrested in connection with a road rage incident that occurred on U.S. Route 50 in early December, which allegedly involved the display of a firearm. The investigation, spearheaded by troopers from the Maryland State Police Annapolis Barrack and the Highway Gun Crime Initiative, led to the apprehension of Kaila Crews, 29, of Annapolis. She faces charges including first and second-degree assault, as well as the use of a firearm in a felony crime.

The incident in question took place on December 18, 2025, on westbound U.S. Route 50 near I-97. A victim reported to state troopers that a suspect brandished a crowbar and subsequently a firearm during a dispute. Although the victim was uninjured, the use of a weapon elevated the situation, prompting troopers to assume control of the investigation. Following their inquiry, Crews was identified as the suspect. She was arrested on December 31, near her residence by Maryland State Police personnel. A subsequent search warrant executed on her vehicle resulted in the recovery of a loaded firearm, which was found in a backpack located on the front passenger seat.
The Maryland State Police have reiterated their commitment to enhancing community safety across the state, with a particular focus on addressing gun violence on Maryland highways. The department is actively pursuing information related to ongoing investigations, including the murders of Delonte Hicks and Charles Marks.
