Hagerstown, MD – The city of Hagerstown is set to welcome a new culinary destination with the grand opening of 96 Royal Coffee & Cream. Per information released by the city, the cafe will officially open its doors on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 11:00 am, located at 96 W. Washington Street in the downtown area. The establishment will offer a unique blend of cultural influences, featuring ethically sourced coffee from Africa and a menu that includes sweet and savory crepes, fine ice cream, and other specialty items.
The cafe is a venture by Cedric Nwafor and his wife, Yefon Fonye, who have been involved in sourcing coffee, cocoa, and vanilla directly from African farming communities for the past decade through their organization, Roots Africa. Doug Onah serves as the managing partner for the new establishment. The opening of 96 Royal Coffee & Cream marks a significant expansion for their efforts, bringing a storefront presence to their decade-long work. The business aims to provide customers with a taste of products that reflect a direct commitment to the origin of the ingredients. 96 Royal Coffee & Cream will operate Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
