The investigation into these alleged offenses was a joint effort by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Federal Bureau of Prisons Special Investigative Service. Assistant United States Attorney Tatum R. Wilson is overseeing the prosecution of the case. If convicted, both Stewart and Berry face potential penalties under federal law, including up to five years of imprisonment, followed by a term of supervised release, and a fine. The final sentence in any criminal case is determined by a judge, taking into account federal sentencing statutes and guidelines. It is important to note that indictments are formal accusations, and all individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This case highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain security and prevent illicit items from entering correctional institutions.
