This new development represents a substantial increase in production capacity for Bakery de France, which is headquartered in Rockville and specializes in all-natural, sustainably produced artisan breads distributed to retailers and restaurants nationwide. The company’s current Frederick location focuses on long fermentation processes for its artisan breads. The planned expansion will enhance the manufacturing of a wider range of products, including baguettes, dinner rolls, and bread loaves. The forthcoming 176,000-square-foot facility will be Bakery de France’s third U.S. location and is being developed in collaboration with La Lorraine Bakery Group, a Belgium-based joint venture partner.

The Maryland Department of Commerce is supporting this expansion through a conditional loan of $700,000 via the Advantage Maryland program. Additionally, Frederick County is contributing incentives, including its Commercial and Industrial Tax Credit and exemptions for inventory and personal property taxes. The City of Frederick has facilitated the project by authorizing a fast-track permitting approval process and offering its own Commercial and Industrial Tax Credit.

This investment by Bakery de France highlights the ongoing strength and growth of Maryland’s manufacturing sector. The expansion is anticipated to bring new employment opportunities and further economic development to the Frederick region.
