A road rage incident has led to a significant felony drug and gun arrest in Baltimore City, according to a press release from the Maryland State Police. The investigation, which began with the Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative, developed information regarding the whereabouts of Malik Jamil Pleasant, a 29-year-old Baltimore resident, and his alleged involvement in drug and firearm violations. Pleasant was initially apprehended on September 22nd by the Maryland State Apprehension Team, operating as part of the US Marshal’s Capital Region Fugitive Task Force. His arrest was based on an active arrest warrant issued by the Circuit Court for Baltimore City for a violation of probation. This probation stemmed from a previous conviction related to conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and a shooting incident in Baltimore City. Pleasant is currently being held without bail at the Baltimore Central Booking Intake Facility.

Following Pleasant’s arrest and as a result of further investigation by the MSP Highway Gun Crimes Initiative, authorities obtained and executed search warrants for his residence and vehicles. During these searches, law enforcement officials discovered a substantial quantity of suspected fentanyl pills, exceeding 850 in number. The recovered items also included a handgun, a detailed drug ledger, a ballistic vest, and other related evidence. It was noted that Pleasant is prohibited from possessing firearms, ammunition, or ballistic vests due to his prior convictions. The discoveries from the search warrants prompted the District Court for Baltimore City to issue an additional arrest warrant on September 25th. This warrant charges Pleasant with multiple felonies, including possession with intent to distribute narcotics, felony possession of a large quantity of fentanyl, illegal possession of firearms, and illegal possession of body armor, among other offenses. The Maryland Department of State Police remains committed to enhancing public safety across Maryland, with a particular focus on addressing gun violence occurring on state highways. Law enforcement is actively seeking information related to ongoing investigations into the homicides of Delonte Hicks, Charles Marks, and Nyah Hairston. The public is encouraged to contact investigators with any information regarding these cases or other highway gun crimes by calling 410-538-1887. Anonymity will be maintained for those who provide information.
