According to a notice from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, a house fire on E Lee Street in Hagerstown, Maryland, on September 28, 2025, has resulted in eight residents being displaced. The incident, which occurred at approximately 5:05 PM at 129 E Lee Street, was quickly controlled by the Hagerstown Fire Department. The fire, which spread to the adjacent property at 127 E Lee Street, rendered both sides of the duplex uninhabitable.

The fire, which originated on a window sill, is preliminarily believed to have been caused by an accidental ignition from improperly discarded smoking material. Firefighters responded to the single-alarm incident, with 44 personnel working to bring the flames under control within 43 minutes. The structure sustained an estimated $70,000 in damages, with an additional $20,000 in content loss. Smoke alarms were present and activated at the scene. The American Red Cross is reportedly providing assistance to the eight individuals who have been displaced by the fire.
