The event aims to provide a safe and family-friendly environment for children to enjoy Halloween festivities. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes. In addition to law enforcement officers and first responders, representatives from various Franklin County departments will be present. These will include personnel from Franklin County Adult Probation, Franklin County Juvenile Probation, Franklin County Jail, Franklin County Department of Emergency Services, and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, alongside other participating organizations.

To support the event, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting donations of sealed candy in its original packaging. These donations are crucial for distributing treats to the children attending the Trunk or Treat. Interested individuals can drop off candy donations at the Sheriff’s Office, situated at 14 N. Main St., Chambersburg, during regular business hours up until October 27th. Public service agencies interested in participating in the Trunk or Treat event can reach out to Gage Yeager via email at gayeager@franklincountypa.gov.

This event provides an opportunity for residents to engage directly with the individuals who serve their community in emergency and law enforcement roles, fostering a sense of trust and familiarity. It serves as a valuable outreach effort, allowing children to meet and interact with first responders and law enforcement in a festive and non-enforcement setting.
