Endico Potatoes Inc. is initiating a recall of its 2.5-pound bags of frozen “Peas and Carrots” and “Mixed Vegetables” due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause severe illness. Consumers in several Northeastern states are advised to check their freezers for these products, which were distributed between July 18 and August 4, 2025.

The recall encompasses Endico brand frozen peas and carrots and mixed vegetables sold in clear plastic 2.5-pound bags. The affected products bear specific lot codes: lot 110625 for “Peas and Carrots,” with a production date of June 11, 2025, and a use-by date of June 10, 2027; and lot 170625 for “Mixed Vegetables,” produced on June 17, 2025, with a use-by date of June 16, 2027. These lot codes are printed on the side of the product bags.

Listeria monocytogenes can lead to serious and potentially fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. While healthy individuals might experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, the bacteria can cause severe complications, including miscarriages and stillbirths, in pregnant women. To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.

The recall was prompted by sampling conducted by the state of Pennsylvania at a distributor’s facility, which detected Listeria monocytogenes in the finished products. Endico Potatoes Inc. has halted the distribution of the implicated items while it collaborates with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate the source of the contamination.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled Endico brand frozen peas and carrots or mixed vegetables with the specified lot codes are strongly urged not to consume the product. They should return the items to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. For further questions or concerns, consumers can contact Endico Potatoes Inc. directly at 1-800-431-1398. The recalled products were distributed to New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Washington D.C., and Florida.
