A significant commemorative event, the Baltimore 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, will take place on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. Organized by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation in partnership with the Baltimore City Fire Department, the event aims to pay tribute to the 343 firefighters from the Fire Department of New York who perished during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Participants will ascend the equivalent of 110 stories, mirroring the height of the World Trade Center, to honor the fallen heroes and symbolically complete their final acts of courage.

The memorial climb serves a dual purpose, not only as a solemn remembrance of sacrifice but also as a crucial fundraising initiative. Proceeds generated from the event will be directed towards supporting programs that aid the families of firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty across the nation. Additionally, funds will benefit the FDNY Counseling Service Unit, providing essential mental health support to first responders. This year’s event offers a powerful visual experience, with firefighters donning their full gear to tackle the stadium’s steps. The public is invited to witness and participate alongside first responders, fostering a sense of community solidarity. Ceremonial tributes, including an Honor Guard, will be part of the day’s proceedings, emphasizing the solemnity of the occasion. Attendees will also observe participants wearing badges bearing the names and images of the 343 FDNY firefighters being honored. The Baltimore Ravens mascot, Poe, and members of the Ravens Cheerleaders are also expected to lend their support to the event. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 9:00 a.m., with the climb commencing at 9:30 a.m. Online registration for the event will close at midnight on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Media wishing to cover the event can direct inquiries to John Marsh, Director of Communication/PIO for the Baltimore City Fire Department, at john.marsh@baltimorecity.gov.
