Washington County, Maryland, is preparing to host its annual “Remembrance in the Park” memorial ceremony, an event designed to honor the courage and sacrifice of service members, law enforcement officers, and emergency responders. The ceremony will also recognize citizens who contribute to the community’s safety and preparedness, as well as pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty protecting Washington County. The Washington County Office of Emergency Management is extending an invitation to the public to attend this significant occasion.

The memorial service is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 6 pm, within the Washington County Emergency Services Tribute Gardens, located at Hagerstown City Park. This event aims to serve as a profound acknowledgment of the bravery, dedication, and resilience demonstrated by individuals who work to ensure the community’s well-being and security.
Attendees are advised to bring their own chairs for the ceremony. While limited handicap parking will be accessible, those requiring it should plan accordingly. The event is made possible through the support and sponsorship of the Washington County Emergency Management, the Washington County Board of County Commissioners, and the City of Hagerstown.
