Hagerstown, MD residents are invited to gather for the annual “Remembrance In The Park” memorial ceremony, organized by the Washington County Office of Emergency Management. The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Washington County Emergency Services Tribute Gardens, located within Hagerstown City Park. This year’s ceremony carries particular weight as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, offering a solemn occasion for the community to reflect on the events of that day.
The gathering aims to provide a space for attendees to pause and remember the lives lost, as well as to acknowledge the remarkable bravery exhibited by first responders, service members, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and ordinary citizens in the immediate aftermath and in the years that followed the attacks. The ceremony is intended to serve as a poignant reminder of the courage, sacrifice, unity, and resilience demonstrated by those who answered the call to service. It will honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice and recognize the ongoing dedication of emergency responders, law enforcement, service members, volunteers, and citizens who continue to protect and serve the community.
