A recent safety recall from the Ford Motor Company, submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), affects over 23,000 Lincoln Aviator vehicles nationwide due to a defective window safety feature. The malfunction is linked to an erroneous software feature enabled in the Driver Door Module (DDM) and Passenger Door Module (PDM). According to the recall filing, the reversal force needed to stop the windows exceeds the 100-newton limit established by federal safety standards. The defect, affecting 100% of the 2025 Lincoln Aviators built between November 29, 2023, and June 6, 2025, was discovered during internal evaluations conducted by Ford’s engineering team in May 2025.
Ford has confirmed there have been no reports of accidents, injuries, or warranty claims related to the issue. However, the automaker is taking proactive measures by removing the global close feature through a software update. This correction will be offered at no cost to vehicle owners.

Owners will begin receiving notification letters starting September 15, 2025, instructing them to visit a Ford or Lincoln dealership to have the software reconfigured. In the meantime, the company advises customers not to use the global close function and to contact their dealer or Ford’s customer line to determine if their vehicle is impacted.
