Financial train wreck – the wasteful spending of extending MARC to Hagerstown (Opinion)

HAGERSTOWN, MD News (3/8/2023) – Who’s ready to take an almost 3 hour train trip to Washington, DC, then another 30 to 60 minutes on the DC Metro just to get to work? Anyone? Anyone? Because that’s what the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is proposing in its MARC Brunswick Line study.

Washington County Property Owners Along Proposed Civil War Rail Trail Could be Impacted by Brunswick Line Study

HAGERSTOWN, MD News (1/29/2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) has released a new report, The Brunswick Line Study Technical Report, which includes a proposal for reopening the former B&O line in Washington County and utilizing the entire corridor previously proposed for the Chesapeake and Western Rail Trail (CWRT), potentially impacting Washington County property owners. No mention of the proposed CWRT is present in the Brunswick Line Study Report.
