Ford Motor Company is alerting owners of certain 2024 and 2025 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles to a potential defect affecting the automatic window reversal system. According to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these vehicles may not have received the correct software update as part of a previous recall, 24C43 or 24V-953. This could compromise the safety feature designed to prevent injury by automatically reversing the window’s movement when an obstruction is detected.

The issue stems from an incomplete software installation during the remedy process for Safety Recall 24C43 / 24V-953. While the vehicles were recorded as having the repair successfully completed, the underlying condition might persist. Specifically, the driver or passenger side windows may not automatically reverse upon encountering an object until a force greater than 100 Newtons is applied when using the “global closing” feature. In some instances, the front and rear door glass may not reverse at all when an object is detected, failing to meet the minimum requirements set forth by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 118 for power-operated window systems. The safety risk, as described by Ford, is that a window automatic reversal system exerting excessive upward force on an obstacle could increase the risk of injury. The cause of this discrepancy has been identified as the service tool not uploading the correct software to the vehicle during the recall repair. No warning lights or indicators are associated with this condition.
Ford has identified approximately 102 vehicles that may be affected by this issue, with production dates ranging from September 26, 2022, to November 20, 2024. The manufacturer is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this specific condition.
The remedy for this situation involves a software update for the Driver Door Module (DDM) and/or Passenger Door Module (PDM). Lincoln dealerships will perform this update at no cost to the owner. Ford has a general reimbursement plan for owners who may have already paid for similar repairs prior to this notification. Vehicle owners are advised to contact a local Ford or Lincoln dealer for specific information about their vehicle’s recall status. Alternatively, they can call Ford’s toll-free line at 1-866-436-7332. The manufacturer expects to begin notifying dealers and mailing remedy owner notification letters around September 15, 2025, with completion of owner notifications anticipated by September 19, 2025. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) are expected to be searchable for recall eligibility starting September 15, 2025.
