Per an announcement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Apollo Imports Inc. has issued a nationwide recall for approximately 790 units of its 2024 Apollo City electric scooters due to a defect that could lead to falls and injuries. The affected scooters are dual-motor models capable of reaching speeds of up to 32 miles per hour and feature a gray frame with headlight and rear brake light. They are identifiable by the serial numbers ranging from 4202240300001 to 4202240301236 and 4202240400001 to 4202240400764, which are printed on the bottom of the deck. These scooters were manufactured in China and imported by Apollo Imports Inc. based in Newark, Delaware.
The manufacturer has received 10 reports of the weld cracking, including four incidents where riders fell and one reported case of abrasions. As a result, owners of the affected models are being urged to stop using them immediately and contact Apollo to receive a free replacement stem. Consumers can initiate the replacement process by completing a form on Apollo’s website and are encouraged to visit a certified service location for the repair at no charge.
