Turpentine Bottles Recalled Nationwide After Safety Violation Raises Risk of Child Poisoning

Thousands of turpentine bottles sold across the U.S. are being recalled after failing to meet child-resistant packaging standards, posing a potentially fatal poisoning risk to children. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall affects approximately 20,000 bottles of Georgia Pine Gum Spirits of Turpentine distributed by Diamond G Forest Products.

The affected product comes in a 4-ounce clear glass bottle labeled with the company’s name and product description. These bottles were sold from January 2021 through April 2025 for around $17. Retailers include multiple health and wellness stores in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, as well as online through Amazon. Despite no reported injuries, the packaging violates the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, which mandates child-resistant closures for hazardous substances like turpentine.

Consumers in affected areas should secure the product out of children’s reach immediately. Diamond G Forest Products is offering free child-resistant replacement closures and can be contacted via phone or their website for remedy instructions. The recall is a proactive step to prevent accidental ingestion, which could cause serious harm or death in young children.
