The issue stems from improper folding of the airbag during assembly, which can cause the airbag to tear upon deployment. This defect may reduce occupant protection and increase the risk of injury or burns due to the release of hot gases. The affected vehicles were produced between July 10, 2020, and October 7, 2024, at the Halewood Vehicle Assembly Plant. The recall includes all models produced before the implementation of a revised airbag design expected in later 2025 models.

Jaguar Land Rover reported no crashes, injuries, or fires related to the defect. However, after extensive testing and investigation—including independent reviews and evaluations of the airbag supplier’s assembly process—the company concluded that variability in how the airbags were folded posed an unacceptable safety risk. The manufacturer determined on June 30, 2025, that a full recall was necessary.
Owners will be notified by mail no later than August 29, 2025. Repairs will involve replacement of the passenger airbag module and related components at no cost to the vehicle owner. Those who previously paid out-of-pocket for this repair may be eligible for reimbursement under Jaguar Land Rover’s reimbursement plan. Dealers are scheduled to receive notification by July 21, 2025.
