Hagerstown residents can look forward to a month packed with free entertainment and community activities as the city launches a series of summer events throughout July. From weekly concerts and outdoor movies to farmers markets and storytelling sessions, the lineup offers opportunities for families and individuals to enjoy the outdoors without spending a dime.

Each Wednesday evening, University Plaza will host the MDWK Music & Market series from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring live bands, food trucks, and local beverages. The July 9 event will kick off with Americana group Cold Spring Union, followed by acts like Butterscotch Blonde, Hustle Souls, and The Heavy Hitters in the following weeks. Food options rotate weekly, including Cousins Maine Lobster, Hicksville BBQ, and Still Smokin BBQ, alongside sweet treats from Dano’s Italian Ice. Hub City Brewery and Church Street Distillery will serve drinks on-site.
City Park Bandshell will continue to be a hub for live music with the Encounter City Park series every Wednesday at 7 p.m. and the Hagerstown Municipal Band concerts on Sundays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Highlights include performances by Randy Simpson, Bryan Wiles, Embassy Church, and Scott Day Band. Special guest soloists will join the municipal band throughout the month, adding to the variety of musical experiences.

For families, the Outdoor Movie Series will return to City Park on July 11 and July 25, featuring free screenings of “Twisters” and “Inside Out 2,” with entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. Those looking to shop local can visit the City Farmers Market every Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Hub City Brewery, offering fresh produce, baked goods, and handmade items. Additionally, kids can enjoy a free storytelling event on July 14 at University Plaza hosted by Authentic Community Theatre.
Sports fans can participate in the Annual City Golf Championship on Saturday, July 26 at The Greens at Hamilton Run. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with an 8 a.m. start. A $60 fee covers 18 holes, a cart, lunch, and prizes.
In a special civic celebration, retired NBA player and Hagerstown native Dennis Scott will be honored with a key to the city on July 17 at 1 p.m. at the Hagerstown Field House. This ceremony is open to the public and recognizes Scott’s athletic achievements and ties to the local community.
