Washington County families will soon see expanded opportunities for after-school care and youth engagement as the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County opens a new, larger youth center in Hagerstown. We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. The expanded facility offers significantly more space and is designed to provide a safer, more engaging environment for children during their out-of-school hours. This development is expected to alleviate pressure on working families by giving children a structured, supervised location for recreation and enrichment during evenings and summer breaks. The upgraded space also enables the club to increase its capacity and diversify its programming for area youth.
Founded over eight decades ago, the Boys & Girls Club has evolved from a single downtown Hagerstown location into a multi-site organization with branches in Frederick Manor, Noland Village, and Gateway Crossing, and after-school programs in local elementary schools. The new center continues this trajectory, reinforcing the club’s mission of supporting youth development throughout Washington County.
