A Mechanicsville resident is facing multiple arson charges after allegedly setting fire to both his home and his parents’ vehicle in separate incidents just days apart. The home is considered a total loss, and the investigations involve local and state authorities, raising public safety concerns.
Early Monday morning, the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire on Morganza Turner Road, where flames originating in the garage rapidly engulfed the rest of the residence. After extinguishing the blaze, authorities determined the fire was deliberately set. Michael Robert Guy, 47, was arrested shortly after the incident with help from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.

Following his arrest, Guy allegedly informed investigators that he had also set his parents’ 2003 Cadillac on fire the previous Saturday near Ted Drive and Ted Circle in Avenue. That incident was already under review by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, which has now linked the two arson cases.
Guy is currently being held without bond at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He has been charged with first- and second-degree arson. The burned home is considered a complete loss, underscoring the serious consequences of intentional fires in residential areas and prompting continued public concern about neighborhood safety.
