Jamie Franks of Washington County has been appointed to represent Western Maryland on the Maryland 9-1-1 Board, filling the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Member seat for the region. Her appointment by Governor Wes Moore will extend through the remainder of a four-year term that began in July 2023, pending confirmation by the Maryland State Senate during the next legislative session.

Franks is expected to take her oath of office in the coming days at the Washington County Circuit Court. Her role will involve contributing to the strategic oversight and modernization of Maryland’s emergency response systems. This includes supporting the rollout of Next Generation 9-1-1 technologies, which aim to enhance the speed and reliability of emergency communications across the state.
As part of the Maryland 9-1-1 Board, Franks will act as a liaison for emergency communication centers across Western Maryland, providing regional perspectives on policy and infrastructure improvements. The Board plays a central role in ensuring that public safety services remain effective and equitable statewide.
