At 11:28 AM today, a curious squirrel entering a local substation knocked out power for customers in the south end of Hagerstown. The Hagerstown Light Department immediately dispatched crews to investigate and implement a repair plan, reassuring residents that service would return shortly.
By 11:36 AM, full power had been restored to all affected homes and businesses—just eight minutes after the outage began. No injuries or significant equipment damage were reported.
Residents are encouraged to report any lingering issues to the Hagerstown Light Department’s 24-hour hotline at (301) 790-2600. No status update regarding the health of the squirrel was provided.
