We need your help to stay paywall free

We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.

If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.

Will you be one of the 5%?

As of 8:00 AM, the Town of Williamsport, MD reported a localized power outage, but as of 8:45 there were reports that the outage had been resolved. Similarly, as of 8:41 AM, Potomac Edison was reporting that 12,717 customers in West Virginia were currently without power, and an additional 11 customers in Maryland were also without power. Affected areas include Harpers Ferry, Martinsburg, Paw Paw, Cumberland, and areas of Garrett County including Redhouse and Deep Creek Lake.

Additionally, Washington County Highway Department announced the following road closures due to high water:

  • Cresspond Road
  • Pecktonville Rd at Licking Creek
  • Independence Road
  • Kemps Mill Rd from the Mill to Snug Harbor
  • Wishard Road

Residents may encounter additional roadways blocked by flooding, trees, or downed powerlines. Drive with caution on roads that have the potential to flood. If water has flooded the roadway, please turn around and do not try to drive through it, and never attempt to approach a downed power line, as it may still be energized.
