The incident began around 5:00 a.m. on June 12 when police were called to a residence for a report of domestic violence. Officers entered the home with permission from the victim and found clear evidence of an assault. The victim, later transported by ambulance, was treated at Meritus and released. Two children present in the home were unharmed. While officers attempted to arrest 40-year-old Daniel Matthew Anderson, he barricaded himself in a locked room. When police forced entry, Anderson fired a shotgun, striking an officer in the arm and prompting officers to retreat and seek medical help.
