A Hagerstown Police officer was shot early Thursday morning while responding to a domestic violence call in the 700 block of Forrest Drive. The Hagerstown shooting incident began around 5 a.m. when a male suspect fired at responding officers, striking one in the arm. The officer has undergone surgery, and his injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

Following the Hagerstown shooting, the suspect remained barricaded inside the home. According to police, no other individuals are inside the residence, and the situation remains active as law enforcement continues efforts to bring it to a safe resolution.
As of 9:43 am, the officer is out of surgery and in recovery. No further updates were available from Hagerstown Police Department at this time.
As of 2:00 pm, the suspect is not yet in custody and HPD is still working on a resolution. The officer is recovering and in good spirits. Hagerstown Police are being assisted by Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police, Washington County Division of Emergency Services, Frederick Police Department, Community Rescue Service, Police Auxiliary, and the Hagerstown Fire Department.
