Polaris Industries has issued a recall for certain recreational off-road vehicles from the 2023 to 2025 model years, citing a serious safety concern that could lead to injury during use. The recall affects approximately 640 Ranger XP 1000 NorthStar and Ranger XP 1000 NorthStar Crew units sold in the United States, along with 24 additional units in Canada. The issue stems from improperly tightened lower seat belt anchor fasteners, which could lead to the seat belt detaching from the frame during a crash.

If the seat belt detaches in the event of an accident, riders may not be properly restrained, increasing the risk of being ejected from the vehicle and sustaining injuries. While Polaris has identified only two vehicles with this issue so far and no injuries have been reported, the company is urging customers to take immediate action. Owners are instructed to stop using the vehicles until they can be inspected and, if necessary, repaired free of charge at authorized Polaris dealerships.
The recall includes multiple color variants of both the three-seat and six-seat configurations, all stamped with “POLARIS” on the front grille. The affected vehicles were sold between August 2022 and March 2025 at prices ranging from $28,000 to $38,000. The VIN, needed to verify recall status, can be found on the left rear frame under the cargo box.

Consumers who wish to continue using the affected vehicles before repair are advised to inspect the seat belt fasteners themselves using detailed instructions provided on the Polaris website. If the fasteners are confirmed secure, the vehicle may be used until the dealership repair is completed. Polaris is contacting registered owners directly and offering support through their website and customer service line.
